The Dark Knight | Batman Dark Knight | Maggie Gyllenhaal vs Katie Holmes

Katie Holmes played Rachel Dawes in Batman Begins and although I do not typically like her work I thought she did a very good job. She was believable and didn’t try to over act. Holmes was cute but did not give off to much sex appeal. She made me really believe she cared about her job as assistant district attorney and she came off as some what heroic in her efforts trying to clean up the streets of Gotham .Holmes character was also critical in helping shape the young Bruce Wayne into Batman.
The character of Rachel Dawes in the upcoming sequel “The Dark Knight” will be played by Maggie Gyllenhaal instead of Katie Holmes. I am a bit disappointed Holmes will not be reprising her role, because I thought she did a good job and she had good chemistry with Batman played by Christian Bale. I also like it when sequels keep the same cast and are not forced to replace any actors. However, since she had to be replaced I think they picked the perfect actress to replace her with. She has the same look and feel. She can portray a strong individual which Rachel is and she can keep the character maintaining the same attitude toward her job and crime in general. I would have liked Katie Holmes to be back, but I think Maggie Gyllenhaal will be a very good replacement in “The Dark Knight”.

I didn’t like Katie Holmes in Batman Begins at all; she was the one thing in that movie that didn’t feel right. I am so glad they’ve replaced her now with Maggie Gyllenhaal. Better actress and a better fit in the Batman world.
I agree that Gyllenhaal will do a fine job but I think Holmes did a good job as well. I think that they are pretty much comparable, but I like it when they do not need to change actors for a sequel.
